    Members enjoy year-round access to some of East Africa’s finest trout rivers, including the Northern Mathioya, Gichugi, and Southern Mathioya, all accessible from Nairobi yet wonderfully off the beaten track

    The club’s beats offer excellent fly fishing for Rainbow Trout, with the occasional wild Brown Trout. Experienced ghillies are readily available to assist you.

    The Kenya Fly Fishers’ Club maintains two traditional hutted camps, each set in serene gardens with river frontage. These camps feature comfortable clubhouses with dining rooms, lounges with log fires, and sleeping accommodation in log bandas. They offer modern conveniences like gas cooking and electricity, while retaining a charming, traditional feel.

    Our fishing camps provide a wonderfully relaxing and affordable retreat, perfect for keen fly fishermen, ornithologists, their families, and anyone who appreciates the slower pace of traditional Kenyan life.

    Your Kenya Fly Fishers’ Club membership subscription covers your personal fishing license for Murang’a County. Members are also invited to the Club’s annual dinner and other events.

Membership Categories

The Kenya Fly Fishers’ Club offers several membership classes to suit different needs:

Adult residents of Kenya who are elected to enjoy all the privileges of the Club.

Spouses/partners of a Full Member residing at the same address, or dependent children under eight years old. They can use Club facilities and fish Club waters when accompanied by the Full Member but do not have voting rights or eligibility for Committee roles.

 

Individuals aged 8 to 18 who are direct or extended family of a Full Member. They cease to be members at 18 unless elected as a Full Member.

Distinguished individuals invited by the Committee for specific periods and privileges. They do not have voting rights or eligibility for Committee roles.

Full Members who have provided special services to the Club and have been members for at least 25 years. They enjoy all Full Membership privileges without paying annual subscriptions.

Residents in Kenya (over 18) invited for a maximum period of 36 months. Their paid entrance fee can be credited towards a Full Membership. They have most Full Member privileges but cannot vote.

Full Members residing outside Kenya for at least six consecutive months. They retain membership with a one-off payment, but if they return to Kenya for more than 60 days in a calendar year, they become liable for the full annual subscription

Frequently Asked Questions on Membership

You can pay by logging into your ClubMember.app account at https://clubmember.app/accounts. From your dashboard, click ‘Pay’ under the ‘Status’ field for your subscription or joining fee. Then, select ‘Make payment now’ and choose your preferred method (MPESA, Airtel Money, Equity, Pesalink, Visa/Mastercard, UnionPay, or Amex Cards). You will receive an on-screen and email confirmation upon successful payment.

As a KFFC member, your personal fishing license for Murang’a County is covered by your membership subscription. However, all fishermen, including members, must carry a valid fishing license from the Murang’a County Government. For members, a copy of the combined license obtained by the Club annually and distributed via email is sufficient.

Guests are welcome at the Club Camps when accompanied by a Member, provided they have a valid Government trout fishing license. A Camp Headman can assist non-members in obtaining a license for a small fee. A Member can introduce a maximum of two guests at a time, and only Full Members can introduce guests. Guests cannot fish or use the camps unless accompanied by a Full Member. There are specific charges for guests’ fishing and camp occupancy, and a single guest cannot exceed an aggregate of 10 fishing days at either camp in one calendar year.

Log in to your ClubMember.app account at https://clubmember.app/accounts. Navigate to “Bookings” and then “Make Booking” to view the Northern or Southern Camp calendars for availability. Click “Make Booking” to provide your booking name, dates, and facility. Select the bandas, input the number of fishing guests, add special instructions, and review the liability statements. Finally, click “Make payment now” to complete your booking.

If a booking cancellation is not made within 7 days of the booked dates, a charge of 100% of the anticipated Banda Fee will be applied to the member who made the booking.

You should bring your own food, drinks, bed linen (sheets, pillows, duvets, towels), wash bags, fishing tackle, and binoculars. Additionally, pack warm clothing (fleece, jumper, hat), polarized sunglasses, good walking shoes or ‘takkies,’ and separate ‘indoor shoes’. It’s also advisable to bring your own drinking water for the Northern camp due to the river water If you plan to use the barbecue, bring your own charcoal.
