Dear Kenya Fly Fishers Club,
Over many, many years, I have been intimately involved in flyfishing, mainly throughout Southern Africa. My focus has been not only on trout but also indigenous species such as tiger fish and yellowfish and I hope that you can, perhaps, help me with a project I have undertaken.

Zambezi Tiger
I was, in fact, born in Nairobi and went to primary school at Westlands and Kilimani before my parents decided to emigrate. However, the first time I “threw’ a fly was in the Nyeri Chania when the family (not a fishing family) was invited to Nyeri for a week-end. That evening I saw my first trout and the next day our group fished the Amboni (I believe). What was evident was that my half-century passion for flyfishing was fueled on that week-end.
In 1974, I returned to spend time with family in Molo and we explored a number of rivers such as the Kiptiget, Melawa, Ngobit, Burgeret, Naro Moru. However, we did not get to the Chania or Amboni.

Trout through the looking glass
I am busy with a book on reminiscences and have few photographs, none of the Chania and was wondering whether I could impose upon your members to help me if possible. Naturally I will give due credit in the publication which will be released next year.
May I say I enjoyed viewing your web site and the reading was done so with nostalgia.
Thanking you
Kind regards
Malcolm Meintjes
