We are putting a book together called Samaki, in celebration of the 50th Delamere competition and the 50th anniversary of Malindi Fishing club. The content will include cuttings, stories, anecdotes, photos on 50 years fishing of the Kenyan Coast.
The book will be published by Steve Mills publishing and will be the same format as the Muthaiga 100 year book. The first run will be 500 copies on a non-profit basis, to be on sale in early 2015 hopefully. It will be coffee table type in character, in full colour using a scrapbook technique, hard backed and boxed and will be printed in Bahrain. We have co-opted Anjie Jooste to help with the research and Meghan Walker to assist in the ghost writing and research.
The book will be chaptered The Forties, The Fifties etc. We hope to use content that will include Maps and Charts, The Fishing grounds, The Water and the Weather, Trophies, The Pioneers, Lady Delamere and White Bear, Record Catches, 50 Years of Malindi Fishing Club, Other Clubs and Venues,Boats, Crews, Fishermen and Fisherwomen, Fish and Tackle and Local traditional handline fishing etc.
