Southern Mathioya yields 72 feisty fish in one weekend

Five  rods took to the waters of the Southern last weekend (21-22 July) in clod and misty conditions. The water levels were normal and the temperature cold. Beats 3,4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 were fished and 72 trout were caught, 71 being returned.

The bag only contained 2 recent stockies, the rest of the fish being between 8oz and just over a pound. Lovely colours and highly active. Most were taken on beaded nymphs and Hare’s Ears.

Bridges and banks were very slippery. Camp and staff were in good order.

And we all enjoyed the ‘Apres’!!
